Optimizing a gene library-prep and sequencing instrument's interface, unifying two lab workflows to reduce user errors

As product design lead for a genetic testing instrument (library prep and sequencing), I learned through interviews about the pain points of operating while wearing gloves, and redefined the interface architecture. Hands-on validation with 5 technical specialists drew positive feedback — "the steps are intuitive and reading the data is more efficient" — keeping operation smooth while lowering the risk of experimental errors.
